Northern College is seeking an Advising Assistant in our Advising Services department. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and possess organizational skills, effective communication skills (verbal and written), will be able to adapt to change, and proficient with computer software including Word, Excel, MIS, and databases.

Reporting to the Haileybury Campus Manager the successful candidate will provide clerical and administrative support services to the Advising Department at the Haileybury Campus.
What you will be doing:
- Ensure that, test and exam accommodation and invigilation for Accessibility Services are available by scheduling and overseeing invigilators;
- Act as the first point of contact for Advising Services by providing excellent customer service and greeting everyone who enters the department;
- Assist the Advising Department with clerical tasks including but not limited to creating and maintaining student files, data base, purchase requisitions, ordering material and swag etc.;
- Ensure referrals to appropriate support staff member/advisor/faculty/coordinator for students seeking support or direction;
- Liaise and interact, either by phone, or e-mails, with faculty, staff from various departments, students, sponsoring agencies and respond to all inquiries;
- Offer support to students who are presenting in an emotional state by ensuring they are provided a private space and offering guidance and support; and
- Meet with students to identify testing accommodations with Accessibility Services and completing the testing centre registration process when required.

What you will need to be considered:
- One-year certificate in Office Administration or related/ relevant field of study; and
- Two (2) years of experience working directly with students, with the ability to use office equipment.
