SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the FAFN CEO and the Chief and Council, the incumbent is responsible for the implementation of the First Nation emergency measures program. The candidate will oversee the annual the preparations for break-up and coordinate the First Nation in times of declared emergency. The Flood Coordinator will have to work with Provincial and Federal agencies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Draft emergency plans and contact list.

·         Identify all goose camps and coordinate flights as required.

·         Coordinate surveillance flood flights upriver with M.N.R.

·         Supervise the emergency response and provide expertise to FAFN CEO and Council.

·         Provide expense to the Fort Albany First Nation Finance department daily for flood flights.

·         Train personnel in emergency measures roles and positions.

·         Coordinate INAC, Provincial, Federal, First Nation and Municipal Governments.

·         Generate reports and correspondence as requested and required by the FAFN CEO.

·         Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

·         Must have leadership, planning and organizational skills.

·         Must be willing to work twelve hours once flood watch affirmed by FAFN Council.

·         Must hold validate driver licenses.

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·         Ability to multi-task and work autonomously.

·         Bilingualism in English/Cree is an asset
