The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Regional Social Worker.
What You’ll Do
• Provide culturally appropriate mental health services to the population within WAHA’s catchment area
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to advance the objectives of the organization
• Maintain and enhance knowledge of practice and regulations according to the Mental Health Act
• Advanced knowledge and practice skills concerning crisis intervention, risk management, and psychiatric assessments. Knowledge and skills in critical Incident Stress Debriefing
• Provide personal support and initiatives
What You Bring
• A degree in social work is required, or a Master's Degree in Social Work is preferred
• Three (3) years’ recent related experience in a crisis or emergency psychiatry setting or three (3) years in acute psychiatry
• Must be in good standing as a Registered Social Worker with the College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers
• Must possess and maintain CPR certification
• Reliable and cooperative, effective interpersonal relationships
• The ability to communicate in the local Cree language is an asset
• Willingness to travel within the region is required
